Former Nova video lead turns his attention to horror flick: The Junket

Former head of video at Nova Entertainment, Sean Bell, has used his experiences working at the media outlet to write and direct a short horror film based on his experiences working behind the scenes in media.

Bell was joined in the project ‘The Junket’ by director of photography, Matt Gorrie and sound recordist, Michael Snitch, who currently works on Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa, and has been the audio producer for many high-profile Australian radio shows such as Merrick and the Highway Patrol (SCA) The Grill Team (Triple M).

The Junket follows celebrity interviewer and self-proclaimed feminist, Stan, who is interviewing the intimidating star of an upcoming vampire movie, Olivia Sarkin, when he hears something he shouldn’t while eavesdropping on her…

Bell would have had plenty of material to draw on from his time working with hosts such as Fitzy and Whippa. During his time in media he’s directed some of the biggest celebrities in the world. The Junket is not his first foray into film, and his previous film F Meat won Best Australian Short Film twice and premiered at Fantasia, Montreal.

‘The Junket’ had its world premiere at the largest and longest running horror film festival in the USA, Screamfest on Sunday.

Locally the film will premiere at a cast and crew session at The Palace Verona Cinemas Sydney on 10 November.
