Former RACV chief marketing officer Nick Thomas joins exec headhunter Ampersand International

Former Royal Automotive Club of Victoria CMO Nick Thomas has been appointed managing director of executive search and advisory firm, Ampersand International.

Thomas takes the role after stepping down from the RACV in August last year after serving 14 months as the motoring organisation’s first CMO.

Prior to joining the RACV, Thomas had been general manager for consumer products at Telstra between April 2015 and October 2016. He emigrated from the UK after three years with Telefonica UK where he held various sales and marketing roles.

Mumbrella has contacted the RACV for comment on who will replace Thomas.

During Thomas’ tenure at RACV, CHE Proximity displaced JWT Melbourne as the organisation’s lead creative agency and his restructuring of the marketing function saw former Coles senior communications and media manager Jasmine Zwiebel join the business.

Ampersand International founder and CEO, Hayley James, said: “Nick arrives at our firm with a sharp mind for entrepreneurialism and an eagerness to lead Ampersand International’s next phase of evolution as we address industry shifts and present new ways of talent engagement to our great clients and brands. We foresee an exciting new era for our business and the executive recruitment industry as a whole.”

In his new role, Thomas will be working closely with James to enhance Ampersand’s service delivery, with a strong focus on innovation and disrupting the executive search industry.

James had also been responsible for placing Thomas in the RACV CMO role.

“I am delighted to be joining a true champion of client and candidate experience, working with Hayley James and the team she has built,” said Thomas. “Exec search and recruitment is an area ripe for change and some disruptive thinking.”
