Former Saatchi & Saatchi CEO Bartley and creative director Newman to launch agency

Former Saatchi & Saatchi Australia CEO Simone Bartley and ECD Michael Newman appear set to launch a new agency called Seizmic next year, Mumbrella can reveal.

The two have most recently worked together to create the first annual National Swear Day launching tomorrow as part of UNIFEM’s White Ribbon Foundation campaign.

Bartley left Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney at the beginning of the year after three and a half years in the role. She had been with the agency network for a total of 13 years.

Newman worked at the agency between 1988 to 2001. Following that he had a stint at M&C Saatchi Singapore and now runs his own creative consultancy called Brandnewman.

Neither would confirm the launch of the new business. However, Bartley is using a Seizmic email address. A website is currently under construction on the Seizmic home page.

Bartley told Mumbrella: “There is a lot of opportunity right now for a true ideas led organisation with all the changes that are going on with business models, consumer empowerment and marketing and communication overall.

“Ideas need to be created in response to consumer behaviour and adapted, changed or pulled as consumers interact with it. These ideas then all contribute to the brand’s story. But for this to be successful clients need to have a well articulated brand story. Like Nike, one of the most iconic brand symbols of all time.

“Any new venture that understands these seismic changes and that can create these types of ideas will have the ingredients to succeed.”

Newman told Mumbrella: “There’s been a seismic shift – excuse the pun – in the way the business model has evolved.”
