Former Ten boss Hamish McLennan named HT&E chairman

Here, There and Everywhere has appointed former Ten boss Hamish McLennan as its chairman.

Effective immediately, McLennan will take the reigns from acting chairman, Paul Connolly.

Hamish McLennan is now the chairman of HT&E

Connolly was appointed acting chairman following the resignation of Peter Cosgrove, who retired in June. Cosgrove resigned after the business agreed to sell its street furniture business Adshel to Australia’s largest outdoor player, Ooh Media. Last month, Ooh Media completed the acquisition of the outdoor business.

McLennan is the predecessor of current Ten CEO Paul Anderson, and stepped down in 2015. He is also the chairman of REA Group. He said the opportunity to chair HT&E was attractive due to the company’s assets – Australian Radio Network (ARN), Conversant Media and Emotive – as well as its management team and balance sheet.

“Radio is a fantastic medium with proven ongoing growth potential and HT&E has the leading metropolitan radio business in the country and the best radio talent in Australia. I am delighted to be joining HT&E at this pivotal point in its evolution,” McLennan said.

Acting chairman Connolly said McLennan was an outstanding choice.

“Hamish is an experienced media and marketing executive who brings unparalleled expertise to the board, given the global roles he has held and his depth of understanding of the changing media landscape and the demands of advertisers. He has a proven track record as an outstanding leader across the media and advertising sectors and will be invaluable as HT&E evolves post the sale of Adshel,” Connolly said.
