Former The Red Republic employees launch full-service QLD PR agency, Pressed

Brisbane practitioners, Simona Varga and Kate Healy, have launched PR agency – pressed. – to bring a fresh league of publicity to the Queensland market.

Hosting a combined ten years of local and national communications experience from national agencies within the travel, fashion, technology, sport and fitness, FMCG, hospitality, and property industries respectively, the duo intend to offer their hands-on knowledge and tactics rom a boutique perspective.

Kate Healy (L) and Simona Varga (R).

“We have had our heads in the game for so long and have seen what works and what doesn’t. We’re eager to bring the basics back to the forefront with our own flavour and on our own terms,” Healy said.

“Many of our clients want that national agency knowledge as well as those local, intimate connections to build their brand but, in a way that is honest, succinct, and effective. That’s where we come in.”

Pressed. offers full-service PR capabilities run by two experienced practitioners as an extension of clients’ teams. Offerings include tailored press liaison, campaign ideation, event and activations management, talent engagement, DIY programs, and a showroom for brands who are looking for an extension of their team.

“We don’t want to be classified as an external agency, or an agency for that matter. Contract us out. We want to be an extension of your clients’ team and work for the brand, with the brand, surrounded by the people that know it best,” Varga said.

“That’s our secret really. We’re hungry to get to the crux, we’re methodical about it, and always on the hunt for securing earned media that counts.”

The pair first met at national creative agency, The Red Republic, where Healy interned under the mentorship of Varga. Soon after, Healy was offered a full-time role at the Brisbane-based firm, where they both worked in tandem in their pursuit for success for their clients. Within a short period, Healy was promoted to account manager and Varga, as the agency’s account director and Brisbane lead, as she simultaneously completed her postgraduate studies in law.
