Fox Sports News moves in with News Corp, launches new programming

News Corp has found a new use for its redundant Your Money studio, with Fox Sports News announcing it will be moving in to the media company’s Sydney offices as of September 1.

The channel, which produces 19 hours of live sports news content each day, is produced by News Corp Australia subsidiary Australian News Channel for Fox Sports and Foxtel, and is currently housed in the Sky News studios inside the Foxtel building in Macquarie Park.

The new home will allow the news service to further integrate itself with News Corp Australia, including the use of News Corp journalists in the coverage.

The move will be marked by a special live edition of Game Day Live, hosted by Jim Callinan from 9am to 10:30am, with a panel of experts including Braith Anasta, Drew Mitchell, Alastair Lynch and Allan Border.

There will also be a number of new programs introduced to the lineup, including a half-hour morning program, The Lead, airing weekdays from 7:30 – 8am, hosted by Matt Suleau and Jim Callinan.

The Lunch Serve will air from 12:30 – 1:00pm featuring Fox Sports News reporters debating the main sports issues of the day. Following The Lunch Serve, from 1:00pm Sports Nation will feature crosses to Fox Sports News reporters around the country to update viewers of the key sports stories in their capital cities. It will also contain feature interviews and breaking stories throughout the day.

To finish each weekday, airing from 11:00 – 11:30pm, The Early Lead will take a look at what will be making headlines on the next day’s news.

Paul Whittaker, chief executive of Australian News Channel, said: “Moving Fox Sports News, Australia’s only dedicated 24-hour sports news channel, into the prominently positioned studio facility at News Corp builds on the channel’s success as the leading provider of breaking sports news video content. Now positioned in the heart of News Corp’s sports operations, the channel’s new home will enhance the content and live broadcast capabilities as we continue to deliver an exceptional news service for Australian sports fans.”

The News Corp studio is a result of the failed Your Money joint venture between Nine and News Corp, which followed Sky News Business being moved to a brand new studio inside the News Corp building shortly before the rebrand, only for the studio to become redundant when the channel closed.
