Foxtel appoints UK representative

Foxtel has appointed Jay Kandola to the role of UK acquisitions and co-productions consultant.    

The announcement:

FOXTEL has announced it has engaged Jay Kandola to take on the new role of UK Acquisitions and Co-productions Consultant with effect from December 1, 2010.

Jay Kandola will be FOXTEL Channels Group’s representative in the UK market, identifying potential acquisitions and formats that might suit the channels for broadcast in Australia. In this context, Jay will attend appropriate markets and undertake a programme of meetings with UK producers and distributors in order to investigate opportunities for recommendation to FOXTEL.

FOXTEL Director of Programming, Ross Crowley said, “Britain is a significant centre of original and creative production. UK programmes resonate with Australian audiences and we know from experience can be adapted for the Australian market. As the home of original and creative series in Australia this strategic appointment will link us more closely to this key market, and source quality programming and entertainment opportunities for our subsribers.

“Jay brings with her a unique understanding of the UK TV market and a keen eye for finding promising acquisitions. We welcome her to FOXTEL and look forward to working with her to help bolster our slate of quality programming within the Channels Group.”

Jay has held senior acquisition roles at all of the UK terrestrial broadcasters. For three years to June 2009, she was as Director of Acquisitions at ITV, since when she has worked as a consultant, undertaking work for a range of media clients.
