Foxtel executive set to depart in 2024

Foxtel’s executive director of group communications is set to depart the company in 2024, Mumbrella can reveal.

In an internal note sent to staff on Thursday seen by Mumbrella, Foxtel CEO Patrick Delany announced that Jacqui Abbott has handed in her resignation after a three-year stint in the role.

Abbott first stated her intention to resign in September, with the news being shared publicly with the staff this week. She will stay on with Foxtel to help oversee the launch of its new service offering, Hubbl, before wrapping up at the end of March 2024.

“Over the past few years, the communications function for the Group has been completely overhauled under Jacqui’s leadership and we have raised the bar on all our PR efforts for our growing portfolio of brands,” Delany’s note reads.

“We are now more innovative and different better special in our communications in every way. We have also navigated a number of reputational challenges, a major company reorganisation, and an ever-changing regulatory landscape in the past year during which she has been a steadfast support to me and the Executive team. I want to thank Jacqui for everything she has done. She will be greatly missed by everyone at the Foxtel Group.”

Abbott started with Foxtel in March 2021 as its group director of content communications, moving over from Pulse – the consumer brand marketing arm of OPR – where she worked as managing director for three years after first joining the agency in 2015.

Abbott took on the executive director of group communications role with Foxtel in August last year.

“I have been fortunate to work in such an exciting and dynamic media business in Australia and with many incredibly talented people,” Abbott said in a separate note sent to Foxtel staff this week.

“The last three years have been fuelled with learning and I am very grateful for the opportunities I have been given. There is still plenty of work to do before I embark on the next chapter and I look forward to be a part of more big moments for the Group including the launch of Hubbl.”

Mumbrella understands a replacement for Abbott will be announced shortly.
