Foxtel sets The Great Australian Bake Off premiere date

Foxtel’s The Great Australian Bake Off premiere will air on Thursdays at 8.30pm from 27 January on LifeStyle and on demand.

The season will be produced by BBC Studios Australia and New Zealand for the first time since they opened their Sydney production arm in 2018. The Great Australian Bake Off is a BBC Studios production in Australia for Foxtel based on a format created by Love Productions and licensed by BBC Studios distribution.

In celebration of the new season of The Great Australian Bake Off, LifeStyle will launch The Great Bake Off Pop-Up channel, available from 19 January through to 27 January on channel 128. The Great Bake Off Pop-Up channel, available to all residential customers, is the destination for the Bake Off franchises from all around the world including The Great British Bake Off, The Great Canadian Bake Off, The Great Kiwi Bake Off and The Great Kenyan Bake Off.

Maggie Beer and Matt Moran are returning as judges for the show, with Claire Hooper and Mel Buttle returning as hosts.

The Bake Off franchise began in 2010 with The Great British Bake Off, and the format has been produced locally in the US, Denmark, Sweden, Belgium, Poland, Ireland, Norway, Finland, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Turkey, Ukraine, and France.

LifeStyle and Fox Arena group general manager, Wendy Moore, said: “We are delighted to announce the return of one of Australia’s most popular formats and one of our much-loved programs. The Great Australian Bake Off has to be the loveliest, feel-good competition cooking shows ever seen – with great talent, exceptional home bakers and a magical setting that we know our viewers love.

“We are excited to be investing in long-running Australian programming which is one of our great passions and we are very much looking forward to being back in production and working with BBC Studios.”

BBC Studios ANZ general manager and creative director, production Kylie Washington said: “I’m excited to be producing this incredible show for Australian audiences. There’s something about the combination of cake and feel-good entertainment that has proved a winning recipe both here and around the world. We have found the next lot of talented local bakers who will amaze and inspire with their creations.”

Beer added: “How exciting that all the gang is back for Bake Off. It’s such a special show where the contestants not only dazzle me with their love of baking, but they are so open to continually learn and to help each other. It’s a real joy to be involved.”
