FremantleMedia takes ‘Qantas-Jet Star’ approach to TV programming with new venture

FremantleMedia Australia is hatching a plan to launch a low-cost programming arms. The “imminent” new venture, which uses the Qantas-Jet Star model for TV production, does not have a name or a person in place to run it yet.

According to a Fremantle source, the company’s London office is going through the approval process for the business, a significant part of which will offer advertiser funded programming.

The news coincides with the promotion of Fremantle Australia’s CEO Ian Hogg to run the company across Asia. Hogg will continue to run the Australian business.

Fremantle’s Asian operations were formerly run by Patrick Schult, who gave notice of his intent to leave the company earlier this year.
