Furniture retailer signs Melbourne socialite Lillian Frank
Adriatic Furniture has signed up Melbourne socialite Lillian Frank to star in its advertising which pokes fun of its positioning as the brand “those rich people don’t want you to have”.
The addition of the Frank, who will front the Melbourne furniture chain’s ads for the next 12 months, is an extension of the campaign first launched by The Sphere Agency.
New executions are being released around sale periods throughout the year, with the latest creatives coinciding with the Easter break.
The ads also feature the retailer’s tag line: “Adriatic Furniture… Exclusive, Yes. Expensive? No.”
Established in 1974 by Italian migrants, the Catalano family, Adriatic Furniture has ten stores across Melbourne and sells lounges, dining and bedroom furniture.

So lame. The thing is, she’s not even close to rich, and is a glorified old media gossip columnist. The ad’s were better when we didn’t associate them with already know personalities. Fail.

it doesnt matter whether Frank is rich – she both symbolises and parodies the wealthy socialite set so viewers will make the connection
is the ad wonderfully creative and in good taste? no
does it achieve cut through, yes
just like good old Joyce Maynge did

Its a retail ad that has an idea well done. many others retailers would also benefit with an idea in their ads.
