Future Publishing acquires three gaming and tech titles from Nextmedia

Future Publishing Australia has bought PC PowerPlay, Hyper and PC & Tech Authority from Nextmedia.

As part of the acquisition, Future Publishing will now run the magazines, each digital edition as well as Upgrade events and Australian PC Awards.

PC Powerplay, Hyper and PC & Tech Authority have been bought by Future Publishing

It will add to Future Publishing’s existing portfolio, which includes APC, TechLife, Tech Radar and PC Gamer. Once the acquisition is completed, Future will consolidate PC & Tech Authority into APC. PC PowerPlay and Hyper will not be consolidated.

The Nextmedia team working on the titles, which includes Ben Mansill, David Hollingworth and Cameron Ferris, will join Future Publishing.

Neville Daniels, managing director of Future Publishing Australia, said the acquisition consolidates Future Publishing’s position as a leading multi-platform gaming and technology publisher.

“PC PowerPlay and Hyper are incredibly strong brands in the Australian gaming community. These titles engage large, loyal audiences who are the influencers in Australia’s fast growing gaming community. The titles perfectly complement our existing portfolio,” Daniels said.

Nextmedia’s other technology and gaming titles include Camera, Australian Hi-Fi, Australian Incar entertainment and Science Illustrated, while B2B tech titles include Business IT, CRN and ItNews. Three months ago, Nextmedia appointed Simon Sharwood as editorial director of the CRN and ITNews titles.

Future Publishing Australia’s other titles include Tech Radar, TechLife, PlayStation Official Magazine and Xbox The Official Magazine.
