Gallagher partners with the A-League and Westfield W-League

Insurer Gallagher has signed up to be on the pitch as the official referee partner and insurance broker for the A-League and the Westfield W-League in 2020/21.

Gallagher Australia CEO, Sarah Lyons, said Gallagher is proud to be supporting the vital work of the referees in safeguarding the integrity of the game as well as the safety of the players.
“Referees play a critical role in football. There is no game without referees, just as there is no business without insurance and risk management solutions,” she said. “You’ll find both Gallagher and the referees running with the action, protecting integrity and playing an essential role in keeping everyone safe and moving with confidence.”

The A-League and Westfield W-League seasons are scheduled to begin on 27 December. However, the latest cluster of COVID cases in Sydney has prompted states and territories to issue border restrictions. At present, up to 14 games across the first two-and- a-half weeks of the competitions are set to be postponed.

This is the first season of the A-League operating independently of the national football association, Football Australia. The competition’s operations have been handed over to the individual clubs to manage. Earlier this year naming rights partner for 15 years Hyundai ended its association with the A-League.
