Genesys appoints Gwilym Funnell VP of sales and MD for AUNZ

Customer experience agency Genesys has appointed Gwilym Funnell vice president of sales and managing director, Australia and New Zealand. Funnell was previously head of business development for the Telstra Software Group.

Industry expert will spearhead ANZ leadership team and drive growth for Genesys across region

SYDNEY — 31 October, 2016 — Genesys® (www.genesys.com/anz), the market leader in omnichannel customer experience and contact centre solutions, has appointed Gwilym Funnell as Vice President of Sales and Managing Director in Australia and New Zealand.

With more than 20 years of experience in IT and telecommunications, Mr Funnell brings a wealth of knowledge to his new role at Genesys. Most recently, Mr Funnell held the role of senior vice president for Telstra’s software group. Prior to this, he spent several years leading the collaboration and contact centre practice at Telstra, where he gained firsthand experience with Genesys solutions through its strategic partnership with the telco.

Before joining Telstra, Mr Funnell established Australian and New Zealand businesses Mitel Networks and March Networks, eventually expanding into the Asia Pacific region and achieving strong growth from start-up to IPO.

“Gwilym comes into this role with a strong background in strategy development and execution, and a proven track record leading organisations to achieve growth,” said Keith Budge, Managing Director of Asia-Pacific at Genesys. “Working closely with our Australia and New Zealand leadership team, Gwilym will provide a solid foundation to provide the direction we need to continue taking Genesys to the next level in A/NZ.”

Mr Funnell will be located in Sydney office of Genesys, leading the company’s growing team of sales and solution specialists. He will also join the company’s Asia-Pacific-Japan leadership team.
