Geoffrey Rush wins Daily Telegraph defamation case
Actor Geoffrey Rush has won his defamation case against the Daily Telegraph, with Justice Wigney awarding the actor over $850,000 in damages.
“This was, in all circumstances, recklessly sensational journalism of the worst kind,” Wigney said in his judgment, awarding Rush $850,000 in aggravated damages and compensation for loss of income to be determined later.
Wonderful news 🙂 I hope they do the right thing and offer a full page apology for one of our national treasures.

The daily telegraph is far from my favourite thing.. but the fact that they lost this defamation case should not take away from the fact that women have come forward with stories about Geoffrey Rush and his inappropriate, entitled, appalling behaviour when it comes to women. To be happy about this victory against the DT only serves to denegrate the stories of brave women who had nothing to gain from speaking up at the expense of their careers and privacy.
The daily telegraph lost this case but Geoffrey Rush should not be painted as the hero. He is far from it.

If he has any class, he’ll give the damages to Eryn Jean Norvill.
Let’s see…
