George Negus improves at 6.30pm as Million Dollar Drop falls again

George Negus saw an audience improvement in his first outing in the new 6.30pm timeslot, but still missed the half a million Ten has been aiming at.

6.30PM With George Negus rated a metro audience of 452,000, according to preliminary overnight ratings from OzTam. It was more than 100,000 up on how Ten’s 6.30 bulletin had been doing. According to Ten it was up 24% on the timeslot.

However, it was still well behind Seven’s Today Tonight (1.193m) and Nine’s A Current Affair (1.051m).

Ten’s newly extended 90 minute Ten News at Five averaged 669,000 – down slightly on what it achieved as an hour long show.

Meanwhile, Nine’s Million Dollar Drop also hit a new ratings low with an audience of 570,000, 23rd for the night.

My Kitchen Rules was top show for the night with an average audience of 1.388m.

One bright spot for Nine was Two And A Half Men moving back above 1m for one of its episodes. It rated 1.043m. However, the next episode fell dramatically, down to 709,000.

Undercover Boss USA, a late replacement in Ten’s schedule, performed poorly with ratings of 544,000.

But Neighbours, on sister station Eleven, was the best performing digital only show, rating 402,000.
