GetUp! launches Tinder campaign asking users to swipe right for gay rights
Activist group GetUp! has launched a new campaign advocating for gay rights on the social platform Tinder, an app dedicated to matching singles.
In the past fortnight thousands of Australian tinder users have matched with an account dedicated to marriage equality that asks keen daters to ‘Swipe Right for Rights’.
The idea was conceived by two creatives at Whybin/TBWA Sydney,Andrew Torrisi and Chloe Saintilan, alongside GetUp! to give users a chance to show their support for those gay marriage.
Tinder users who form the perfect match with Swipe Rights are invited to sign a petition supporting marriage equality. To date more than 4000 have matched.
“We already know 90 per cent of women and 88 per cent of men under 25 across the country support marriage equality – this campaign is about reaching these young people and giving them a new way to be heard”
those numbers seem very high, did GetUp post any sources? or did they just interview 50 people in brunswick and extrapolate the results?
good campaign by the way, i like the idea and the execution
Is this campaign about preaching to the converted? If so, they will get amazing results.
GetUp tackling the big problems again.
Hopefully a lot of MP’s are on tinder
I just swiped left on you evan
