Move over mining: Gina Rinehart’s fashion calling

Dr Mumbo raised their eyebrows this morning when learning that one Gina Rinehart has forayed into the world of fashion, bringing the much-loved Rossi Boots brand under the Rinehart empire; the latest feather in her cap after a more than 30-year career as a mining magnate.

It seems plundering the earth of its mineral value is no longer enough for Australia’s favourite mining heiress.

No need to fret though, Dr Mumbo understands that Gina’s time at Hancock Prospecting is far from over. Though, this may just be a venture to watch.

According to Dr Mumbo’s most trusted news source, news.com.au, the company also bought out iconic oilskin jacket brand, Driza-Bone, last month.

Of S.Kidman & Co’s latest fashion venture, Gina made a stunning appeal to Aussie’s shared identity, claiming the acquisition was “not just a business decision”, but “a recognition of our national history”.

Dr Mumbo commends Gina’s efforts to brush up on Australia’s shared history, and is happy to make a few more pointers if she is looking for advice.

Alas, Gina continued: “From being worn on stations and farms around the country to supplying hundreds of thousands of pairs to our soldiers in WWI and WWII, Rossi represents the heart and soul of Australian craftsmanship and embodies the quintessential Australian spirit of hard work, resilience and quality.”

Whether Gina is hoping that her astute fashion sense will rub off on the everyday Australian, or she is simply bored of making site visits, Dr Mumbo is not at liberty to say.

Either way, Dr Mumbo has no doubt the mining magnate will be looking to make her mark on Australia’s fashion industry.
