Glyn Williams appointed general manager retail at Sydney Airport

Sydney Airport has appointed Glyn Williams as general manager retail. He will be responsible for the duty free retender process and retail business.

The announcement:

Sydney Airport today announced that Mr Glyn Williams has been appointed as General Manager Retail.

“We’re delighted that Glyn Williams is joining the Sydney Airport team. He brings extensive experience in retail property leasing, management, development and marketing across a number of businesses,” Sydney Airport Chief Executive Officer, Kerrie Mather, said.

“Retail is an integral part of our business and the passenger experience. We’re focused on providing our passengers with choice, value and convenience.

“Mr Williams will lead our Retail business as we evolve our offering to meet the changing needs of our customers.

“He’ll also be responsible for the duty free retender process which is now underway. We’re seeking a retailer or retailers to operate, manage, develop and market our exciting duty free business.”

Mr Williams said he was pleased to join the Sydney Airport executive team.

“Sydney Airport has a fantastic Retail business with enormous growth potential and a high quality customer profile. Research shows that we have a 25% share of the $1.4 billion Sydney travel retail market, with approximately 200 stores offering a wide range of products, including fashion, accessories, jewellery, perfume, cosmetics, souvenirs, food, wine and spirits,” Mr Williams said.

“I look forward to leading the Sydney Airport Retail team as we work to deliver a world-class airport experience.”

Mr Williams was previously Head of Retail at DEXUS Property Group and Regional General Manager NSW/WA at Westfield Group. He was also a Director of the Shopping Centre Council of Australia for the past three years.

Mr Williams commences in the role on Tuesday, 6 May.
