Gold Logie winner Samuel Johnson to present keynote at Mumbrella Entertainment Marketing Summit and host BEFEST Awards

Celebrated actor Samuel Johnson will present the final keynote at next month’s Mumbrella Entertainment Marketing Summit on how he orchestrated the campaign to win Australian TV’s top award.

Johnson took home the TV Week Gold Logie this year largely for his performance as music industry icon, Ian “Molly” Meldrum, in the tele-movie which aired on the Seven Network, beating off competition from a host of celebrities who appear almost daily on TV.

The Entertainment Marketing Summit will take place at the Seymour Centre in Sydney on November 30.

Away from his acting career Johnson is a notable philanthropist. He credits the 500,000 strong Love Your Sister Facebook community for pushing him over the line for the Gold Logie win and has vowed not to act again until the charity raises $10 million for cancer research.

At the Entertainment Marketing Summit, Johnson will detail the Gold Logie journey, how the against-the-odds win came about, and the part that Facebook played as his primary means of campaigning for the award.

Johnson has also picked up big wins at the AACTA and AFI Awards, and has starred in successful TV series including Rush and The Secret Life of Us.

He joins a lineup of industry experts like heralded live music promoter Michael Chugg and global musical theatre doyenne David Ian.

Also speaking are Telstra’s Michele Garra and Jeremy Nicholas, Microsoft’s Jeremy Hinton, Mona’s Robbie Brammall, Nine Entertainment Co’s Helen McCabe, Penny Rowland of The Australian Ballet, Cie Jai Zarb from the Sydney Opera House, Jody Malam from Viacom and many more.

Johnson will also MC the BEFEST Awards, to be held directly after the Entertainment Marketing Summit. The BEFEST Awards are Australia’s only awards recognising branded entertainment and the way in which brands are using it to connect with consumers beyond traditional advertising.

In 2016 the BEFEST Awards received over 150 entries for the 13 categories, with the winners announced in front of an audience of over 300 people.

The Entertainment Marketing Summit and the BEFEST Awards take place at the Seymour Centre on November 30. Earlybird tickets for the Summit are currently available here with a discount of $100 when purchased before October 10. Tickets include complimentary access to the BEFEST Awards.
