Golden Globes draw 136,000 on pay-TV as Big Bash continues to lead the non-news night

The telecast of the Golden Globe Awards on Foxtel’s Fox 8 performed strongly yesterday drawing an audience of 136,000 metropolitan viewers according to OzTam overnight ratings.

ricky gervais golden globes tweetThe result came as the Big Bash continued to dominate with the match between The Sydney Thunder vs Melbourne Renegades drawing 904,000 viewers on Ten and One in Perth for the second session, to be the most watch non-news program of the night. The first session had 868,000 capital city viewers.

The result came as the ABC’s Back Roads, hosted by Heather Ewart, continued to draw strong audiences as it covers life in regional Australian communities, with 824,000.

Over on Seven in the 7pm slot Border Security drew 703,000 while the Fast4 Tennis drew 518,000 at 7.30pm.

Nine’s most watched show of the night was To Catch a Smuggler which had 595,000 viewers.

In news Seven narrowly won in both the 6pm and 6.30pm bulletins, with 1.061m and 997,000 respectively while Nine News had 1.025m and 996,000.

In main channel audience share, Ten won the night with 19.7 per cent. Nine had 17.3 per cent, Seven 16.4 per cent, ABC 13.1 per cent.
