Good on the trouble-making Herald
It feels to me like the Sydney Morning Herald is going through something of a campaigning, investigative purple patch at present.
This week, it was a delight to see the paper publish some sample test results to challenge the idiotic (and indeed embarrassing) NSW law that bans publication of school league tables.
Meanwhile, the paper’s investigation into the oddities of the questionable NSW taxi market also seem to be bearing fruit, with a public inquiry coming as a result of its revelations.
It’s exactly what a good city paper should be doing – causing trouble, making revelations and raising questions.
On The Mumbo Report a few weeks back, editor Peter Fray talked about the investment he was making in investigations. I’d say it’s working.

Seems to be quite the buzz activity at the moment for newspapers. The Adelaide Advertiser has just appointed its own Investigations Editor too
