Goodbye Leggy Blonde
To say goodbye to media strategist and regular Mumbrella commenter Simon Lawson, Starcom Melbourne has kindly produced a personal campaign for him that espouses all that Lawson hates about advertising. Fair enough, Dr Mumbo supposes, since Lawson is jumping ship to Starcom’s sibling rival Zenith Optimedia.
What does he hate? Expensive and irrelevant experiential campaigns. Wanky ad jargon. Oh, and agencies who set up Facebook pages for the sake of having a Facebook page.
So Starcom has set up a seemingly pointless Facebook page to bid him farewell. The page is called Goodbye Leggy Blonde, inspired by a song by Flight of the Concords, and Lawson’s strawberry blonde (ginger?) locks.
But Simon you use so much ‘wanky ad jargon’ in your presentations…remember you are a strategist and ‘wanky ad jargon’ is the essence of a good strategy preso!
I’m glad we have spent the last 11 months working together sharing our hatred of pointless facebook pages and creative agencies who quickly called themselves social media experts because they figured out how to create a facebook page for their clients.
