Google appoints McDonald’s digital boss Mark Wheeler as head of large customer marketing
Google Australia has appointed Mark Wheeler as head of large customer marketing, replacing Chris Dodson who has moved to the London office to lead YouTube’s European subscription services.
Wheeler joins Google from McDonald’s, where he was the head of digital for the fast food chain’s Australian and New Zealand operations.
Prior to joining McDonald’s in 2013, Wheeler was based in London as Diageo’s head of digital marketing for the global beverage giant’s rum brands.
Google Australia’s director of marketing, Aisling Finch, said of Wheeler’s appointment: “Mark brings a wealth of marketing, media and digital experience to the role, and has worked both agency and client side, here and in the UK. We’re delighted to have him join the team.
“His innovative, data driven approach is a great fit for Google marketing.”
Wheeler will be responsible for managing the company’s relationship with local large advertisers on both Google’s main sites and YouTube.
