Google Pixel launches AO sponsorship film via 72andSunny, PHD and EssenceMediacom

Google Pixel has launched a new campaign to support its Tennis Australia partnership as the Official Phone and Official Camera of the Australian Open.

The sponsorship film was created by Google’s creative agency of record, 72andSunny, with media from PHD and Google’s bespoke GroupM and EssenceMediacom agency, Media Futures Group.

It supports in-game activations that see the Google Pixel’s AI powered camera unlock new side of court and behind the scenes angles, to help viewers get closer to the game and the players.

“We’re thrilled to be the official Smartphone and Camera of the Australian Open. With the most advanced Pixel to date, the Pixel 8 Pro will give fans unprecedented access to all the action, and help deliver a unique and memorable fan experience at this iconic event,” said Julia Davis, director of marketing, Google Australia.

Genevieve Hoey, creative lead at 72andSunny, added: “Fans come to the Australian Open to see the world’s best tennis players in action. Our Pixel sponsorship film directed by Dave Wood from Goodoil, music by Zimbabwean-Australian rapper Tkay Maidza, along with our spectacular LED billboards, share the fun and energy of the event known as ‘The Happy Slam’.

Google last month appointed EssenceMediacom as its new media agency of record, following closed pitch with incumbent PHD.
