Government ads talk up NBN
The government has commissioned a series of ads to sell the benefits of its National Broadband Network.
The ads are designed to promote the educational and health benefits of the expensive infrastructure.
The business case for the network remains a political issue with opposition spokesman Malcolm Turnbull focused on attacking the plans. The ads have been commissioned by Stephen Conroy’s Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy.

It isn’t *that* expensive for goodness sake.
$AU40 billion will only buy about 800km of freeway, that’s not even enough road to get from Melbourne to Sydney!

Did they film that ad 10 years ago and put it away for a rainy day?
The clothes, furniture and settings all look old – and seriously, how offensive to show chalkboards in childrens class rooms – no one has them these days, it is all whiteboards and more advanced ones.
Not happy Jan.

Sarah L – shhhh. It’s just an ad, no need for the melodrama.

Class rooms do not even use white boards any more most have upgraded to smart boards, Why do you want to do yoga over the internet? Why do school kids need interactive content via class rooms? I mean the best way to learn is not playing virtual content… Why do old people in the bus want to do “Real Time” business? this ad is stupid it is a waste of tax payers money.

Malcolm has to learn that when he sold out of OzEmail we were all connecting to the Internet via dial-up … but times have moved on rapidly. Stop looking in the rear-view mirror for your directions forward!

@Chalk Board I’m just outraged that you are appearing on government adds when they claim to have spent all this money on education. It’s a dusty matter.

Sarah L…
Maybe if you’d paid more attention to me back in school you’re realise that it isn’t ‘adds’, but actually ‘ads’.
That’ll teach you not to invite me to your slumber party in Year 2!

And I meant ‘you would’, not ‘you’re’. Neither the dictionary nor the thesaurus were friends with me back then.
