Grey Melbourne steps up female leaders to replace departing Michael Knox
Grey Melbourne has named Claudia McInerney as its new Melbourne managing director after chief creative officer and managing partner Michael Knox was promoted to run creative for the agency’s Hong Kong office.
The regional reshuffle has also resulted in an an all-female creative team being appointed to oversee its creative output while the agency conducts a local search for a full time CCO.
Grey’s chief operating officer, Paul Worboys, said that team would build on the work of Knox while the agency conducted the search.
Sally Richmond and Lauren Doolan have been appointed as associate creative directors from the agency and will be supported by recently named design director Renee Luri.
Danish Chan continues as national planning director, a role he has held since last year.
McInerney has been at the agency for eight years, starting by overseeing the account of then Grey client TAC, and rising to become general manager.
Worboys, said that Knox had been a force at the agency and appointing his replacement from within was a testament to how the agency was developing.
“I’m thrilled that we can promote from within,” Worboys said.
“Over the years Knoxy and this team have been focused and bloody minded about driving the creative reputation of our clients’ forward,” Worboys said.
“Our Melbourne office is in great hands. It’s brilliant to be able to have such senior leaders like Claudia, Danish, Sally, Lauren and Renee at the helm, as Michael’s remit within Grey evolves.”
Knox had been with Grey in Melbourne for five-and-a-half years and has also worked at Clemenger BBOD and Ogilvy Sydney on brands including AAMI, Australia Post, BMW, Mini, Myer, Yellow Pages, Telstra, and Crown Lager.
Many congrats to Claudia, the best in the business
