Grill’d releases photos of KFC’s The Colonel eating its food

Grill’d has released photos of KFC’s The Colonel eating its Healthy Fried Chicken Hot Bites.

The announcement:

Grill’d has turned up the heat in Australia’s ongoing fried chicken wars with the launch of its new Healthy Fried Chicken (HFC) Hot Bites, once again proving that fried chicken can be healthier, tastier, and hotter, naturally. HFC Hot Bites are tossed in the fiery new signature Hawthorn Hot Sauce made with 100% Australian red cayenne chillies and features on the Grill’d menu as part of its 100% Natural Chips & Sides range for just $8.50 for 6 bites or $11.50 for 9 bites (dine-in price) and is available in all restaurants and via delivery partners nationwide.

Grill’d has stepped up yet again in its pursuit to provide Australians with satisfyingly guilt-free, healthy options, launching HFC Hot to fuel Australians with naturally hotter fried chicken whenever they want. The launch comes hot off the heels of fried chicken fans getting increasingly annoyed that KFC’s Hot and Spicy range is inconsistently available in stores around the country.

“The Colonel” must be feeling the heat, as to onlookers’ surprise, a man looking suspiciously like Mr Sanders was spotted at Grill’d trying out the HFC Hot Bites for himself. One Grill’d customer reported that the familiar face was looking very content with his bucket of HFC Hot Bites, posing the question, has he finally converted? Another reported they overheard the man saying, “The rumours are true! Fried chicken can be healthy and tasty.”

The feud between Grill’d and KFC began with the launch of Healthy Fried Chicken (HFC) last year when Grill’d flipped the bird to fast food giants like KFC and McDonald’s by creating a product superior in quality and significantly lower in kilojoules and saturated fats than other fried chicken options from fast food giants.

Grill’d positioned media trucks outside KFC stores in Sydney and Melbourne with the words, “Dear KFC employees, you get free HFC” and a call to action for KFC employees to head into their nearest Grill’d restaurant in their KFC uniform to receive free Healthy Fried Chicken Bites, with over 150 KFC employees redeeming the offer over the week.

To celebrate the launch of HFC Hot, Grill’d is now offering a serve of free 6 HFC Hot Bites for all Relish Members until Sunday 22 March (11.59pm) with any burger purchase either in-restaurant (dine-in, takeaway and phone pick-up) or online (pick-up and Grill’d Delivery). Non Relish members can sign up for free to the Grill’d Relish loyalty program via the website or app to be instantly eligible.

The new HFC Hot Bites have a bold flavour and mild, sweet heat that allows you to keep going back for more. The bites are 100% Natural just like the rest of the Grill’d menu with ZERO artificial colours, flavours and preservatives, and similarly to the Natural and Sticky Honey Soy HFC Bites, are protein-rich morsels made using 100% natural Australian RSPCA approved chicken breast which is free from added hormones and chemicals, are gluten-free, cooked in Australian Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO).

The Hawthorn Hot Sauce is made with 100% Australian red cayenne chillies from Bundaberg in Queensland and uses only 100% Natural ingredients. The inspiration for the sauce was born from the ashes of a fire back in 2016 that burnt down the very first Grill’d restaurant in Hawthorn, Melbourne. The Hawthorn restaurant has served out each and every burger ever created, from the Farmer Joe to the Hot Hombre, and is the reason the spicy concoction that can now be enjoyed Australia wide.

Perfected after years of recipe trials, the Hawthorn Hot Sauce is slated to set fire to a whole hot range on the Grill’d menu. More details to be announced soon.
