Group M names Claire Butterworth interim general manager of investment, recruitment ongoing

Group M has named MediaCom’s Claire Butterworth interim general manager of investment in lieu of a replacement for chief investment officer Nicola Lewis being appointed.

It was announced last October that Lewis would be returning to Europe to become the global chief growth officer for the agency’s addressable TV business, Finecast.

Lewis wrapped up her involvement with Group M Australia towards the end of last year, and a search for her replacement has been ongoing.

As interim general manager of investment, Butterworth will take on responsibility for GroupM’s investment and partnerships function, working with the CEOs and investment leads of Mindshare, MediaCom, Wavemaker and Essence to drive value for clients and leveraging modern investment and partnership services.

Butterworth, the chief investment officer at MediaCom, will also continue to work closely with the agency’s team.

Mark Lollback, CEO of Group M Australia and New Zealand, said the group’s investment operations are in safe hands.

“With more than 15 years’ experience in senior investment and trading, Claire is fantastically placed to lead investment as we build a new future fit structure across GroupM and I’m really excited to welcome her into this role.

“Claire previously worked at Wavemaker before joining MediaCom, and already works closely with the wider investment community across all GroupM agencies, and has strong relationships with our media vendors, so we know GroupM Investment is in good hands coming into 2021.”
