Group M’s North American CEO Tim Castree departs

The North American CEO of WPP’s media agency network Group M is departing the business.

Tim Castree stepped into the role in January, after becoming global CEO of Group M’s agency Wavemaker in 2017.

Toby Jenner replaced Castree as global Wavemaker CEO back in July.

Prior to his time with the WPP network, Castree had been chief operating officer of Starcom’s Mediavest in the US.

Locally, Castree was managing partner of George Patterson Partners back in the early 2000s, during the period it joined forces with Y&R.

He then became CEO of Leo Burnett Australia between 2006 and 2008, before heading off overseas.

Group M was light on the details around the departure, issuing a statement to Mumbrella saying: “We thank Tim for his contributions and wish him the very best.”

It is understood Christian Juhl, Group M’s global CEO, will fill the void left by Castree on an interim basis.

In Australia, Group M is led by former McDonald’s CMO Mark Lollback, and includes agencies such as Mindshare, Mediacom, Wavemaker and Essence.
