GroupM announces flexible public holidays arrangement
GroupM agencies Mindshare, Wavemaker, MediaCom and Essence, have introduced an inclusive flexible public holiday policy that allows staff to recognise the cultural and religious dates that are significant to them.

The announcement:
First things first – I’m not trolling – these questions are asked in good faith, as the press release is big on ambition, small on detail.
1. How do GroupM (and/or Hatched for that matter) plan to police this to ensure that employees do not game the system. What’s to stop me taking all public / religious / other holidays, based on however I choose to identify on a given day? And what recourse do GroupM have to address this?
2. How do Group M / Hatched plan address ‘forced leave’ over the Christmas period (& let’s not pretend this doesn’t exist either). For example, if i choose not to celebrate Christmas based on my religious beliefs, and instead choose to work on those days, surely i cannot be forced to take other leave over this time?
