GrowthOps’ Salesforce Einstein rebrands to Lightfold as it becomes independent
After a year of incubation, Trimantium GrowthOps (TGO) has announced its Salesforce Einstein practice has become a new independent business. The change has seen it rebrand as Lightfold.
While the business will no longer operate under the TGO umbrella, it will continue to provide Salesforce Einstein expertise to TGO clients, and now has the flexibility to expand its services to the entire Salesforce user ecosystem.
TGO lured the entire Salesforce Einstein team across from Accenture in September 2018, including global lead John Cosgrove, discovery and creative lead Kylie Long, technical lead Robert Houston and functional and governance lead Robert Rymer.
At the time, TGO founder Phillip Kingston called the Einstein ability ‘an important pillar in GrowthOps’ cloud strategy’.
TGO’s new CEO, Clint Cooper, said the spinoff was a win-win for both businesses.
“GrowthOps has been at the forefront of emerging thinking around how AI can be harnessed to change the shape of customer and brand experience for some of Australia’s biggest brands,” Cooper said.
“Our clients will continue to benefit from this thought leadership, both from a Salesforce implementation perspective, as well as from an advisory and strategy perspective.
“We’re proud of the work we have done together over the last 12 months and remain committed to continuing to offer this valuable capability to our clients. We’re excited to see what’s now possible for the team as it moves to this next phase.”
Cosgrove, who is the CEO of the newly-named Lightfold, said the progress made over the last 12 months has been important for the business.
“Our time embedded with GrowthOps provided us with an amazing opportunity to work with a team of thought leaders across the full spectrum of customer, employee and brand experience,” Cosgrove said.
“Being part of a culture that truly embraces entrepreneurship and innovation gave us the space and flexibility to deepen and expand our capabilities, deliver great work for our clients, and to change the conversation from deploying an app to adopting a platform.
“Through Einstein, AI has become mainstream on Salesforce and demand for the capability has grown across every level of business, including small and medium businesses, as well as enterprise.
“Now, with a dedicated brand and direct market engagement, Lightfold can unleash the full power of Einstein working alongside the trailblazing community of businesses – including GrowthOps and our clients – who adopt Salesforce worldwide.”
TGO’s former CEO Paul Mansfield supervised Accenture’s acquisition of Cloud Sherpas, which included the Salesforce Einstein team, in 2015. The four members who then moved across to TGO in 2018 were part of the first dedicated Australian practice for Salesforce Einstein Analytics. Salesforce Einstein is a comprehensive AI for Customer Relationship Management (CRM).
TGO went through a round of redundancies at the end of 2019 as part of a major restructure, following the departure of the majority of its directors and its CEO.
Let me get this straight — as a follower of TGO for a while.
The TGO strategy was to integrate businesses and bring them together under one banner (GrowthOps) to add value to clients in new ways. The premise, at least I assumed, from the market was this would lead to a bigger/badder entity on one P&L to solve some of the issues larger holdcos are having integrating.
Now TGO has incubated a capability business, and is spinning it out from under TGO to operate with a seperate market presence and I assume a seperate P&L.
Does this mean the TGO strategy has changed for the business? If not, why is this the exception?
There are a few areas that make it make sense but it would signal a huge change in direction for TGO:
1) Maximising value for shareholders in the event of a breakup of assets/asset write offs
2) Allowing them to communicate high value growth businesses better by separating them, in effect a similar play to point 1, but without the sell-off
3) A change in strategic direction

More AI bollocks, this time starring Sales Force and some blathering about “thought leadership” (code for “SFA got done”), liberally seasoned with a cavalcade of b-grade, constantly renamed service companies and even b’er grade acquisitions. The real Einstein would be rolling in his grave.

Best thing that’s happened to this team…they were massively underperforming in the cluster …that is GrowthFlops
John Cosgrove is a smart dude…surely will be opening his wings and flying now that he’s not constrained by stupid management

So you’re saying that one of the jewels in the tgo crown is being ‘spun off’ into its own entity?
Yeah, pull the other one. The true story is that actual professionals with actual skills couldn’t face one more lap in the clown car that is GrowthOps.
It’s just spin spin spin with this lot.

I mean it should have be alarm bells when this overhyped “takeover” from Accenture’s happened. The fact that Accenture gave 2/5th or F$## all about losing these “Einsteiners” is a clear indication that they were thanking the TGO gods for taking this cost centre off their books.

So what capability does Trimantium Growthops actually have left? They have carved off capability, or made most people redundant and/or the rest have walked. Seems like all that is really left is some of the people from AJF (although lost a lot due to redundancies) and then not much else is left… oh wait they have those security guys – cause you know creative and security mix so well together.

Based on ASIC searches GrowthOps has no holding in this company. It’s owned by the 5 people who were the Einstein practice at GrowthOps.

Not sure why this is news. They did nothing valuable at Accenture or GrowthOps. It’s a few mates working together on a single small part of the salesforce ecosystem.

Not helped by appointment of receivers to Trimantium , can’t see how Growthops can be insulated from this latest disaster
