Gumtree redesigns website in response to increased mobile traffic
Classifieds website Gumtree.com.au has completed its new, full responsive website which has been rolled out across all aspects of the platform and “allows users to get the most out of the specific functionalities of their device”.
The new design, developed by digital agency Pollen alongside the Gumtree team, was created in response to ongoing growth in traffic to the site via mobile devices.
Pollen creative director Ross Gales said in a statement: “Our team of architects and designers worked with the internal team at Gumtree to complete the responsive redesign in under six months. Our main challenges were maintaining the simplicity Gumtree users expect, whilst improving the overall experience and staying loyal to the distinct brand.”
Buyers will now be able to send SMS responses straight from their mobile device while sellers will be able to create ads, directly upload photos and manage their listings from their mobile devices.
Gumtree spokesperson Niki Hennessy said in a statement: “With close to 20 million Aussies accessing the internet via mobile handsets, it is important to us that the user experience is consistent and optimised across any device used to access Gumtree.”
The new website is live across desktop, laptop, mobile and tablet with iOS and Android apps available from the iTunes and Google Play app stores.
Good idea, more than half of google searches these days are on mobile devices
