Hamish & Andy confirm Nine deal

Hamish_&_Andy_NineRadio duo Hamish & Andy have this afternoon confirmed a two year deal with the Nine Network.

However the pair claim they have no idea yet on what the progamming – produced by their production company Radio Karate – will consist of.

They made the announcement on their weekly Today Network radio show.

A statement from Nine quoted the pair – Hamish Blake and Andy Lee – as saying:

“We don’t really know what the show will be yet, but we are super excited that Channel Nine will press play on the VCR, as we’ve decided to stick with VHS as our format of choice. The fact that the Nine Network has the London Olympics next year was a big draw card, mainly because we might score a couple of free tickets to see the Latvian synchronized swimming team.”

Last year saw Radio Karate produce Hamish & Andy’s Caravan of Courage for Ten.

Nine’s director of television Michael Healy said: “We’re really excited about the boys joining Channel Nine. They’re great guys and a great fit with Nine’s plans for 2011.”

Nine has been attempting to position itself as “the home of comedy” in 2011. However, it has cancelled Ben Elton’s Live From Planet Earth after three episodes following poor ratings, shooting of the current series of Two And A Half Men was axed in the US today, and Shit My Dad Says and Mike & Molly have struggled to attract strong primetime ratings.
