Hamish & Andy and Under the Dome dip while Andrew Denton helps SBS to bumper night

under the domeBoth Under the Dome and Hamish and Andy’s Gap Year South America saw further ratings declines on their second outings last night, while Andrew Denton’s experience tracing his family tree saw SBS One more than double its audience share.

Ten’s Under the Dome dipped further on its season two premier last night, falling to 564,000 viewers from 625,000 in the 8.30pm timeslot, despite Masterchef once again winning the 7.30pm timeslot with 1.007m viewers, the most watched entertainment show of the evening.

Nine’s Hamish and Andy got 967,000 after last week’s debut of 983,000 despite the absence of Seven’s reality hit House Rules in the 7.30pm slot, with two repeats of The Big Bang Theory at 8.30pm and 9pm pulling in 796,000 and 730,000 respectively.

However, Hamish and Andy did win the 18-49 demographic ahead of Masterchef, although the cooking show topped the 25-54 category.

Andrew Denton’s appearance on SBS One’s Who do You Think You Are saw a big audience urge for the show lifting it to 503,000 viewers in the 7.30pm timeslot. Combined with another decent audience of 169,000 for the Tour De France Coverage the station picked up a 6.9 per cent audience share, up from 2.9 per cent the week before, and was just 1.2 per cent behind ABC 1 in Sydney which got 9.6 per cent.

News buoyed an otherwise quiet night for Seven with its 6pm bulletin winning the night with 1.186m, ahead of Nine’s 1.172m, although Nine News 6.30pm was stronger than Seven News and Today Tonight with 1.125m against 1.019m.

It’s top entertainment offering was Winners and Losers at 8.30pm with 867,000. down on last week’s 941,000 when it followed on from House Rules.

Nine won the night with an audience share of 20.5 per cent, against Seven’s 18.6 per cent and Ten got 13.8 per cent.
