Hamish McLennan appointed board chairman of REA Group

hamish mclennanLess than two months after he was elected to the board of online real estate firm REA Group, Hamish McLennan has been appointed board chairman.

McLennan, who joined News Limited as executive VP in February, succeeds Foxtel boss Richard Freudenstein, who is stepping down after five years to focus on his new role as CEO of Foxtel.

Freudenstein will remain as a non-executive director.

McLennan said in a statement: “REA Group is a leading-edge, first class digital business and I’m delighted to be appointed Chairman as we continue to grow the business here in Australia and around the world.”

Freudenstein added: “It has been my privilege to lead the Board over the past five years. Today, REA Group is a diversified online media business delivering growth across its residential, commercial, display advertising and international business units. I congratulate Hamish on his appointment as Chairman and look forward to continuing to work with my fellow directors and the executive team to achieve our business goals.”
