Hard Quiz rises to 740,000 metro viewers as ABC claims 20% network share

The ABC’s Tom Gleeson-hosted Hard Quiz continues to pull in impressive numbers in OzTam’s television ratings, with the program rising further to 740,000 metro viewers overnight.

The program has aired since 2016 and is now in its sixth series, having started as a segment called ‘Hard Chat’ from The Weekly with Charlie Pickering.

Hard Quiz was the #6 program overall on Wednesday night, only behind news programming from Nine and Seven, and Married at First Sight.

The performance of the show on Wednesday night helped the ABC to a 20% network share, now closer to Seven (23.3%) than Ten (15.8%).

Nine won the night, however, with a 32.8% share, as Married at First Sight continued to bring in over a million viewers as its ‘Couples Retreat’ episodes continued. The episode aired to 1.003 million metro viewers and was easily the top program of the night in all three key advertising demos.

Ten’s primetime offering of The Cube with Andy Lee fell to another series low of 307,000 metro viewers, barely outrating Seven’s Highway Patrol (300,000 metro viewers) in the 7:30pm timeslot .

Several other entertainment programs rated higher, including the new Kitty Flannagan-led comedy series Fisk with 594,000 metro viewers and The Weekly with Charlie Pickering (575,000 metro viewers).

Seven notched up another win for Seven News in that category, with 947,000 metro viewers tuning in, ahead of Nine News with 918,000 metro viewers. ABC News had 710,000 metro viewers on the night.

10 Bold continued its streak of winning the top-rating multi-channel of the night, with a 4.4% share.
