Chief marketing officer at Havas Media Group, Francis Coady, has departed.

In a LinkedIn post this morning, Coady announced that he will farewell the group after seven years in various roles.

He was appointed Havas Media Group’s CMO in 2021. Prior to that, he helped establish Havas Sport and Entertainment, which attracted clients Bupa, Gillette, LG, NRMA, CGU, Virgin, Red Bull as clients under his leadership.

Coady said in the post: “From starting the Havas Sports & Entertainment division with just a laptop and mobile, with the wonderful mentorship team of Mike Wilson & Imogen Hewitt, to helping run a 140-team business in Havas Media Australia with Virginia Hyland. It has been one hell of ride.

“Some really exciting news to announce in the comings months on the next adventure but for now it is head down writing and working as a board member, and board advisor, to some wonderful organisations.”

When asked about whether Coady’s role will be replaced, Virginia Hyland, CEO of Havas Media Group, said it’s a case of “watch this space”.

She said under Coady’s post: “Francis you are an industry icon and it’s time to follow your dream! Thank you for your wonderful support and your amazing journey at Havas. We will miss you!”

Coady is currently a board member at Surfing NSW and a board advisor to Veterans Film Festivals.

Havas Media Group has seen a few changes in the leadership team recently. In its PR division, Simone Gupta stepped down as the CEO of Havas PR Australia in November last year. Earlier this week, Red Havas appointed returning Aussie Shane Russell as the agency’s new CEO.

As the previous CEO of Host/Havas Laura Aldington departed the agency in February, Gayle While was announced as her replacement.

Meanwhile, Global CEO of Red Havas and global chairman of the Havas PR Global Collective, James Wright, has returned to Australia as CEO of the Havas Creative Village.
