Hearts & Science wins SBS media account

SBS has appointed Hearts & Science as its media agency following a closed tender.

The pitch involved a number of local media agencies. Mumbrella understands the incumbent, Zenith was one of the agencies involved.

Hearts & Science will handle all media buying and planning for the hybrid broadcaster.

Jane Palfreyman, SBS director of marketing said: “SBS is pleased to appoint Hearts & Science as its new media agency following a competitive tender process. We also want to thank the dedicated team at Zenith for their work with us over the last eight years.”

Zenith has handled SBS’ media buying since 2014, and in 2021 expanded its relationship with the public broadcaster, having won its performance media account.

CEO of Hearts & Science, Jane Stanley said: “Hearts & Science is delighted to be working with SBS as a leading multi-platform and diverse media brand. We were inspired by the SBS Charter and the ambition to further accelerate the digital offering including SBS On Demand.

“We look forward to partnering with the SBS team to build audience engagement powered by best in-class data and technology. This will allow us to deploy the full capability of our incredible Hearts & Science offering and team. We can’t wait to get started.”

The win comes among ongoing shifts for the agency, as managing director Richard Smith announced his departure, following a leadership restructuring and Darren Stein’s return to the agency last month.

Last week, Mumbrella looked at the conditions contributing to the vast amount of pitching and brand movement at the moment.
