Hill & Knowlton hires Laura Ryan as associate director

Hill & Knowlton has bolstered its health and public affairs offerings with the hire of Laura Ryan as associate director.

Ryan joins from government body the Department of Health and Ageing. She will report to health practice director Melissa Chlad and advise clients on stakeholder engagement, issues management and media strategy.

Hill & Knowlton Australia MD Sue Cook said: “Laura has an impressive track record in effective media liaison and stakeholder relationship development to build improved public awareness of key issues, such as the national health reform agenda.”

Ryan’s career to date includes a stint as press secretary to the Nicola Roxon, Minister for Health and Ageing during the last federal election campaign. She has also served as media and senior policy adviser to the Alan Griffin, Minister for Veterans’ Affairs.

Prior to these roles she was a producer for ABC Radio in Canberra.

Ryan joins a public affairs team that has seen considerable change this year, with the departure of Jacquelynne Willcox to Weber Shandwick in August.
