Home and Away draws 708,000 as Ten’s I’m a Celebrity wins the key demographics
A quiet night of TV viewing saw Seven soapie Home and Away take out the title of most-watched non-news show on Thursday night.
Home and Away won the night with a metropolitan audience of 708,000 beating Ten’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! which had 676,000; however, the jungle reality show won all the key advertiser demographics of 16-39s, 18-49s, 25-54s.
Last night also saw the start of the 2016 NRL season which drew 581,000 at 7:30pm for the Parramatta Eels v Brisbane Broncos game in Sydney and Brisbane, while a repeat of Julia Roberts/Richard Gere film Pretty Woman on Seven at 8:30pm drew 548,000 across the five markets.
On the ABC, drama Jack Irish attracted 581,0000 viewers at 8:30pm.
The news race saw Nine News win both the 6:00pm and 6:30pm time slots with 985,000 and 961,000 viewers compared with 928,000 and 907,000.
In breakfast ratings Today beat Sunrise by a solid margin, with an audience of 341,000 to 302,000.
In main channel audience share Nine won the night on the back of the NRL with 21.2%, Seven had 19%, Ten 14% and the ABC 12.5%.
