Houston Group bolsters creative leadership team
Independent brand consultancy Houston Group has boosted its creative offering, with several updates to its leadership team.
Creative director Alex Toohey has been promoted to chief creative officer and partner, while Alex Creamer has stepped up to executive creative director. The agency has also welcomed Jacqui Halloran, who has returned to Australia after a stint in London, as design director.
Toohey has been with Houston Group for over 13 years, responsible for some of the agency’s most recognisable work for brands like Qantas, Ampol, and Toyota.
Creamer will support Toohey, with his leadership over the past 18 months described as having “strengthened collaboration, refined creative processes, and kept the agency’s work at the forefront” across a range of sectors. He has led work for clients including Westpac, McDonald’s, and NRMA.

“This is about building the best possible conditions for creative excellence – pairing the strategic rigor we’re renowned for, with the design leadership and creative firepower to match. The whole team brings the experience, craft and curiosity to help our clients thrive in a fast-changing market,” Toohey said in a release.
The agency will also deepen its design capability with the addition of Halloran.
Most recently at London’s Made Thought, she has over a decade of design experience, having worked with brands including Chanel, Burberry, Commbank, Sydney Festival, and the Maybourne Hotel Group.
“Our creative strength lies in a culture that embraces diverse perspectives and deep expertise,” Toohey said. “Jacquie’s passion is already making an impact within the team. Together, our creative team are positioned to push boundaries and produce work that reflects both the ambition of our clients and the agency.”
“At Houston, we work at the intersection of bold ideas and clear strategy, so our creative captures attention and drives real business outcomes for clients,” he said.
On joining the agency, Halloran said she’s always sought out leaders who challenge her thinking and push for creative excellence, and Houston Group allows her to “do exactly that”.
“After my time in London, I’ve returned with a renewed appreciation for the opportunities we can create here in Australia, and a broader perspective that shapes work to be both compelling and effective for our clients.”
