Hoyt’s Food pays $10,800 for misleading ‘Oregano’ representations
Hoyt Food Manufacturing Industries Pty Limited (Hoyt’s Food) has received a $10,800 penalty for misleading representations on its ‘Hoyts Oregano Leaves rubbed’ batch.
The announcement:
Hoyt Food Manufacturing Industries Pty Limited (Hoyt’s Food) has paid a penalty of $10,800 following the issue of an infringement notice by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission. Hoyt’s Food is a distributor of oregano and supplies to major retailers across Australia.

Were it not for Mumbrella I would never have known about the ‘olive leaf substitution in the oregano’ scandal.
Gotta fly. Have to check the pantry and inform Border Security.
I sent a complaint to Hoyts regarding their stuffed olives. I believe they are stuffed with carrot not pepper as labeled. They taste quite bitter and you can see that the “pepper” has a growth ring. Hoyts have not replied. Then I saw this article about the oregano. What do I do to find out if it is really carrot?
