Humpday
Courtesy of Madman, we have the US indie comedy Humpday, starring Mark Duplass.
When Andrew turns up on his college mate Ben’s doorstep, they easily fall back into their routine of macho competitiveness, but one night at a wild party, their one upmanship comes to a head when they decide to enter an amateur porn competition. But what kind of boundary-breaking, envelope pushing porn can two straight dudes make? After the booze and “big talk” run out, only one idea remains: they will have sex together on camera. It’s not gay; it’s beyond gay. It’s not porn; it’s art. But how exactly will it work?
Humpday won the Special Jury Prize for Spirit of Independence at Sundance 2009, and has screened at a number of international festivals including Sydney and Melbourne.
To win, email miguel@focalattractions.com.au and tell us, can porn really be artistic?
I beilve it can, I think it all depends on the individuals who are involved.
Even now, if you look back at some of the seminal porn films from the 70’s and 80’s you would say they have taken on far more in the public then a porn film probably should.
