Hungry Jack’s reintroduces burger that sparked Macca’s legal battle
The controversial Big Jack burger has returned to Hungry Jack’s stores across Australia for a limited time.
The introduction of the Big Jack in 2020 initiated a three-year legal dispute with McDonald’s, which alleged that it violated their trademark of the Big Mac range.
During the court proceedings, Hungry Jack’s chief marketing officer, Scott Baird admitted there was an “element of cheekiness” with the choice of name.
Baird said the decision to bring back the Hungry Jack was due to customer demand.
“We’re thrilled to announce the return of the Big Jack and Mega Jack burgers, even more excited to bring it back bigger and better than ever, packed with flame-grilled Aussie flavour and boundless deliciousness for our burger-loving community,” he said.
The Big Jack boasts two 100% Australian flame-grilled beef patties nestled between brand-new soft glazed sesame-seed buns, packed with crispy lettuce, tangy pickles and onions, topped off with its coveted special sauce.
The Mega Jack is also returning to Hungry Jack’s stores from May 7. Both hamburgers are available in-store, via drive-thru, online for delivery on the Hungry Jack’s app or through delivery partners.
