‘I will always leave the door open’: Eric Andre talks potential new season of The Eric Andre Show ahead of Aussie tour

Season six of The Eric Andre Show only wrapped up mid last year, but fans are already clamouring for more episodes of the parody talk show.

Appearing on a new episode of The Plug podcast ahead of his Australian tour which kicks off next week, the US comedian touched on whether the show – which airs on Adult Swim in the US and Apple TV locally – will return for a seventh season.

“I will always leave the door open,” Andre told host Neil Griffiths.

“If Adult Swim will have me back. So, I never want to say no.”

The Eric Andre Show has had a number of big-name guests on the program over the years, such as Seth Rogen and Jack Black, while Donald Glover, Natasha Lyonne and Jon Hamm all appeared in season six.

Andre, who is set to perform in arenas across Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth in the coming weeks, has had a big few years since his last tour of Australia in 2019, which included starring in Netflix’s 2021 comedy Bad Trip, which he co-wrote and co-produced, as well as featuring in Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities show, HBO’s The Righteous Gemstones and The Prank Panel last year (which he famously quit from a few times).

While Australian fans will get to see Andre’s live show, the comic said he is still very interested in doing more on-screen work.

“I want to do anything done well. If it’s a writer, a producer, a director. or a team of people I like, then, hell yeah,” Andre said.

“[The] Righteous Gemstones was a no brainer, because I think Danny McBride and all the guys at [production company] Rough House are brilliant. I think they’re like state-of-the-art scripted comedy. I think they’re so funny.

“I’m thrilled to work with people with such giant brains.”
