I Wish I Were Stephanie V to screen at Times Square

During the New York City International Film Festival, Australian indie film I Wish I Were Stephanie V will screen at Times Square on Monday 22 August at 6.15pm.

Directed by JD Cohen, written and starring Chloe Traicos as the 21 year old virgin Helen, its a story about immigrant life, love and tennis, aimed at fans of My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Bend it Like Beckham.

The film features a young cast of actors from Home and Away, Packed to the Rafters, Blue Water High, McLeod’s Daughters and Neighbours.

The film received a Best Film nomination at DIGISPAA in 2010, and won Best Feature Film at Indiefest USA, in June 2011.

For the Times Square screening the film will be slightly recut to be acceptable to a G-rating. Producer Laura Sivis said in a statement, “we’re going to have to redo some of the dialogue and a replace a few shots with less confrontational ones, as there may be children in the audience.”
