ICON International Communications merges with chris+geoff to create new agency

Public relations agency ICON International Communications has merged with advertising consultancy chris+geoff and rebranded as the DAYLIGHT Agency.

The new agency will have five primary offerings including advertising, digital and social, marketing, public relations and reputation management.

Former managing director of ICON International Communications, Chris Gray, said: “In a world of disruption, we took the important decision to evolve and reshape the firm to provide a unique industry leading business proposition in the changing marketplace.

“Our point of difference is we look at brands from a holistic point of view, helping our clients to harness opportunity while managing threat.

“We have all witnessed the reputational damage high profile brands have suffered in recent times when they have failed to get the mix right between ‘promotion’ and ‘protection’. Our view is that brand resilience is only achieved when both sides of the equation are in play at the same time.”

Gray has taken the role of managing director of DAYLIGHT Agency while the founders of chris+geoff, Chris Mitchell and Geoffrey Corbett, will be partners and executive creative directors.

ICON’s former CEO, Phil Burfurd has become the company’s chairman and a director.

Unilever, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, Sony, Westpac, BMW, Canon and Telstra are some of the projects chris+geoff have previously worked on.

The DAYLIGHT Agency has a combined 15 staff members made up from both ICON Communications International and chris+geoff employees.
