Idris Elba first international cover star for T Australia

T Australia has featured Idris Elba as its first international cover star for its fifth issue out this month.

The announcement:

T Australia: The New York Times Style Magazine launches its first issue for 2022 and as a bimonthly title, featuring the award-winning actor, producer and musician Idris Elba.

T Australia’s Issue #5 celebrates Journeys – literal, emotional and creative. Elba, who opens a series of stories spotlighting “Modern Poets”, formed an unlikely international union with the Leimbach brothers of the Australian pysch-pop-rock band Lime Cordiale; the musician Nick Cave explores the space between merchandise and art through his new project Cave Things; the filmmaker Madeleine Gottlieb maps fraught emotional territory in her new work; and the acclaimed American ballet principal David Hallberg relocated to Melbourne to take up The Australian Ballet’s artistic directorship at a moment of historic crisis.

Katarina Kroslakova, the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of T Australia, says Issue #5 “brings together a group of artists who have demonstrated creativity and resilience through multiple forms of expression born from the physical limitations of the pandemic. The results are pieces of work that convey a deeper meaning for both the audience and the creator.”

Also in this issue, the author and activist Bri Lee recalls the world destination that most challenged and shaped her; and T Australia’s restaurant critic, Besha Rodell, takes a trip to Victoria’s Gippsland Lakes region to experience the wonder of sardines, and, coveting refined refreshment, road-tests the new wave of icy poles. T Australia ponders the essential lesson the pandemic taught us; plots the route to a cleaner future for cars; and much more.

Issue #5 of T Australia is out on 28 February, available at newsagents nationally and can be ordered online, either as a single copy or as part of a one-, two- or three-year subscription. For more information, visit taustralia.com.au or find the magazine on Instagram and Facebook @tmagazineau.
