Its always the problem when you have people creating , producing and approving the ad, who cannot afford the product, or even imagine how the qualified prospective customer lives.
You end up with talent (?) thats at least 20 years younger than the reality

So it appears I’m wanker, given my lifelong predilection for a sharp pinstripe. When I next pull out of my driveway in my ancient, banged-up Mitsubishi, I shall sally forth with the notion that I am being transported, literally AND figuratively, by a Lexus.

Pin stripe suits rok!
The Lexus brand is a great example of what marketing and meeting the needs of consumers (cough cough… wankers) can do for smart businesses.
I on the other hand will stick with my Korean made Barina and save up for an Australian made Maloo ute

Do they have tie-ins with Rolex, Mont Blanc etc?
I was more surprised that the guy put on a tie not a keffiyah.

Olaf Typ – can’t afford a Lexus? That’s like saying you can’t afford Ferrero Roche chocolates, they are hardly expensive, its just how they are positioned. I think thats what is wrong with this ad, It looks like its been made overseas for a different market, eg eastern europe where Rolex’s are aspirational rather than something Del Boy would sell out of a suitcase. Its too try hard trying to make Lexus seem like a premium brand, when everyone here knows its a fancy Toyota. They need to try a different angle in this market.

So wearing good clothes makes a guy a wanker???
Maybe you guys should go back to your jobs in retail. If you get cold, your Lowes jumper is waiting in the staff locker.

I don’t think he is a wanker at all, he is just a sucessfull business man…
What so you suggest they make a TVC for Lexus with bogans in trackey dacks crusing around in a bad area, with a VB can in one hand???
These types of posts turn me away from your blog.

@Jono what is wrong with the ad is NOT that he isnt a successful business man. whats wrong is HOW they chose to portray him as a successful business man – Yhe age of the talent, the type of suit, the body language = wanker. Therefore we can draw the conclusion that to drive a Lexus you are a wanker

Lexus are not expensive – there is one here for $9.5k. I’d have thought about buying it myself, but not if people think I’m like the smarmy guy in this ad. Perhaps thats why its so cheap? They can’t shift em!

I agree with Sarah. I will extend on her very good point, which is I have never met a Lexus driver who isnt a wanker… Therefore the ad is very true to life!!
Anyone know what you call more than one Lexus..?

Regardless of all the points raised above…I still find it an engaging ad. Not the same old same old we see from other car brands. Regardless of whether or not you like what the brand represents, it will probably hit the mark for their target market, which, I am assuming, was a key priority for them in creating it!
